Danijel Cerne a.k.a. Mystica

(composing, guitar, saz)
Grew up in a folk music family (but nothing like The Corrs!), although he always preferred to dream about the electric guitar rather than the screech of his father's accordion. At the age of 12 he formed his first rock band with his friends.
Motivated by creating his own music and blurring the borders between music genres, he founded and composed music in the progressive rock band Terra Mystica (albums: Carsica 1997 and Axis. 2002) and in the Altaria project, which was recorded in New Zealand. Until now he has written and recorded more than 150 songs and with Terra Mystica won two awards for best album. His fascination with Celtic, Balkan and Gypsy music arose after discovering the energy, mysticism, archetypes and elemental emotions within it. Besides his Sociology degree he specialises in testing the durability of guitar strings.
Awards with Terrafolk:
- Best Act of the Folkwoods festival 2005
- BBC 3 World music Audience Award 2003,
- Spirit of the Fringe 2002,
- Boomerang 2003 (the best live band in Slovenia),
- The Sun Fallon Award 2001-2003.
